The initial impression is oak and more oak, but as it unwinds, it actually becomes rather elegant, and the delicious fruit asserts itself. In addition, you also find structure, as the tannins provide nice support for the fruit, and grip to the finish. Big and fat, this is very much a creature of its vintage and a heckuva lot of fun.
